I have eight years of experience in the field of Respiratory Therapy and I worked in every aspect of it from ICU to home healthcare. My doula journey began in 2013. After giving birth to my first child at a birth center, I asked my midwife if she needed any extra midwifery assistants on her staff and she said "yes!" I gained a lot of valuable experience working with the midwives at the birth center and watching doulas care for their clients. This planted a seed in me that continued to grow over the years.
In 2019, I decided to answer my calling to become a doula and I completed my labor doula training class. I am happy to be working towards certification with the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA).
I grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas and I currently live in Angleton. I am blessed to a wife and mother of three boys. My second and third babies were planned home births. The name Maroon Mermaid came from my school colors and my love of everything that has to do with the water! I am an alumni of Texas A&M University and I enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and going to the beach with my family.
Please note: A doula is not a medical professional and I will not perform any clinical procedures or provide diagnosis of conditions.
